Battered Old Brontosaurus
If you are able to sleep this Christmas eve, I'm happy for you. After playing Nintendo Wii with some good friends, saying good bye, cleaning up, brushing my teeth (I want to stop Mr. Gingivitis), and trying to fall asleep for 30 plus minutes I had to cure my restlessness and search for answers. My mind is racing about the new country we live in. I can hear the wind forcing the rain against my house. If you live near me you may feel it too. Will my home withstand the windswept rain? I'm confident that it will, yet this new country we live in may not withstand the new changes. When you wake up on the 25th of December, smile, drink your coffee, kiss someone, let out the dog (not near me), and realize that have a new socialistic nation.
Ron Bruno, a faithful man of God, introduced me to Malcom Muggeridge (a humble, prophetic...genius Christian manhttp://thewords.com/articles/mugger4.htm) such a short time ago (the early 1980's). His quotes cut deep and pierce our messed up thinking noodles. One quote rings so loudly for this moment that I can barely perceive my deafening tinnitus:
"So the final conclusion would seem to be that whereas other civilizations had been brought down by attacks of barbarians from without. Ours had the unique distinction of training its own destroyers at its own educational institutions. And providing them with the facilities for propagating their destructive ideologies far and wide, all at the public expense. Thus did western man decide to abolish himself. Creating his own boredom out of his own effluence. His own vulnerability out of his own strength. His own impotence out of his own erotomania. Himself blowing the trumpet that brought the walls of his own city tumbling down. Having convinced himself that he was too numerous, labored with pill and scalpel and syringe to make himself fewer, until at last educating himself into imbecility and polluting and drugging himself into stupefaction he kneeled over a weary, battered old brontosaurus and became extinct."
Our nation is an endangered species. The Constitution, 1776, Liberty, and Freedom will soon join the folklore and tales we share with our children unless we stand and choose to do otherwise.
“…for such a time as this.” Ester 4:14
